It’s Never Too Late To Glow Up!
“Glow up” is another one of my favorite terms these days! The basic meaning is “to go through an incredible transformation.” That could mean physically, mentally or professionally. It is used to describe someone who has “taken it to that other level.”
My main goal in my growing-older adventure is to get better with age in various areas of my life. This requires some rubbing my hands together and getting to work. I’ve been pretty good with following my beauty routines, getting some exercise and eating a little better. Now I want to take it to another level and really see what heights I can reach. Yes, y’all, I am doing a Mid-Life Mid-Year Glow Up Project!
My Self Care “Secrets” For Mid-Lifers
Self care is a term that I use a lot because it’s an important part of physical and mental health. Self care helps with feeling great and looking your best at any age. It helps to minimize the effects of aging as we grow older. Have you ever run into someone you haven’t seen in years and notice that they haven’t aged since you saw them last? Actually, they may look even younger! You wonder or outright ask them if they got any” work done” or what their “secret” is There are many factors involved in maintaining a youthful appearance. Some people do get cosmetic procedures done (which is totally cool); others are just blessed. Either way, self care still plays a large part in it.
My Daily Body Care Routine
My 51-year old skin is a tale of opposites. The skin on my face can be like an oil slick at times and requires a routine tailored for oil/combination-type skin. The skin on my body is super dry and calls for a body care regimen that provides all-day moisture. Extra TLC is needed unless I want to spend the day in dry, ashy discomfort.
The following steps are what I do daily in my body care routine. Give it a try to help combat your battle with dry skin!
Finally! A Salad That I LOVE To Eat…Really!
I am NOT what you’d call a “salad” person. The first thing that pops up in my head when I think about salads is iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. It’s not that this is so terrible, but it’s not really something that makes me say, “Ooh, I can’t wait to eat that!”
To be honest, I’m more of a desserts person. I love cakes, pies and whatever other desserts are in creation! However, as much as I enjoy a good slice of cake or pie, I’m aware that this is not a healthy daily choice (although eating them in moderation is cool). I’m all about making better food choices but taste is very important to me. Eating something healthy that tastes like cardboard is not an option.
A Healthy Start To Your Day!
My green protein smoothie plays a huge role in my weekday mornings! On most weekdays I have no time to cook and sit down to what is considered “the most important meal of the day.” Some people can get through their morning without eating breakfast. Alas, I am not one of those people! I work out every morning too so my tummy is calling for some sustenance afterwards.
Also, as a middle-aged woman, I feel the effects that food have on my body very quickly – the good and the bad. I’m always on the lookout for healthy meals that I actually enjoy so this smoothie fits the bill in both cases.
